Cedar Lake man to be charged for threatening a school massacre and his wife…

(AP) _ Court documents say an Indiana man charged with threatening a school massacre also told his wife he would stab her with a screwdriver and kill her children and grandchildren.

Von Meyer’s initial hearing is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon in Lake County Court, Crown Point. The 60-year-old is charged with intimidation, domestic battery and resisting law enforcement.

Police boosted security at Jane Ball Elementary School in Cedar Lake and three other area schools Friday after Meyer’s wife told officers he had threatened during an argument to “shoot up the school.” She works at the school’s cafeteria.

The alleged threat occurred hours before 20 students and six adults were shot and killed at an elementary school in Newtown, Conn.

Cedar Lake lies about 45 miles southeast of Chicago.
