Cause of Pierceton Feed Mill Fire Ruled Undetermined

KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO): The cause of an overnight fire that badly damaged a portion of a Pierceton feed mill has been ruled undetermined.

Based on a fire investigation conducted at the Egg Innovations Feed Mill by several law enforcement agencies, it appears the blaze started in a hopper that was being used to process alfalfa into chicken feed.

The fire spread causing extensive damage to the structure and equipment. Due to the extreme amount of damage, the exact cause of the fire is being ruled as undetermined.

Officials say a police officer on patrol spotted smoke coming from the mill around 2:00 a.m., November 6th. Several fire departments were called in to help fight the blaze and crews were able to largely keep flames from reaching the mill's grain bins.

No injuries were reported.
