Caucus set to replace Long

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Indiana Republicans are starting the process of replacing a longtime Fort Wayne lawmaker who’s retiring soon.

Senate President Pro Tem David Long will be stepping down on November 6th, so state Republican Party Chairman Kyle Hupfer has called a caucus of eligible precinct committee members to fill Long’s seat.

The caucus will be held on October 9th at 6pm at the Allen County Republican Party Headquarters in downtown Fort Wayne.

Hupfer says that Long helped transform Indiana from “a middle-of-the-pack state to a national leader in responsible government” during his 12 years of leadership.

Individuals interested in running in the caucus should contact the State Party Secretary at secretary@indiana.gop to ensure they file the proper forms prior to the deadline, which is 72 hours prior to the vote.

A Facebook Live Stream will be available at www.facebook.com/indgop for members of the public who wish to watch the caucus live.
