SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) _ Prosecutors are beginning to wrap up their case against a man accused of planning a house explosion that killed two neighbors and devastated an Indianapolis neighborhood nearly three years ago.
Marion County Deputy Prosecutor Denise Robinson told St. Joseph Superior Court Judge John Marnocha the state plans to rest its case against Mark Leonard on Wednesday. Leonard's attorney, David Shircliff, said the defense could rest its case by mid-day Thursday.
More than 140 people have testified in the trial about the explosion on Nov. 10, 2012, in the Richmond Hill neighborhood of Indianapolis. Leonard faces murder, arson and other charges in the explosion that killed Jennifer and John “Dion'' Longworth.
Leonard is accused of conspiring with his then-girlfriend and his half brother so they could collect $300,000 in insurance.
