Carroll Grad Hospitalized After BASE Jumping Accident

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A 22-year-old Carroll High School graduate is hospitalized after BASE jumping in Idaho. Austin Carey was getting ready for a jump Monday with 24-year-old James Rawe off of a bridge. That's when Rawe got tangled in Carey’s parachute, and they both fell to the ground. You may be familiar with the term after it showed up in the news this week as jumpers used One World Trade Center for their activity. Jumpers leap from buildings, antennae, spans, and earth, hence the word BASE. According to our partners in news at 21 Alive, Casey was airlifted to a hospital. Rawe was also hospitalized.
