NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (AP) – A central Indiana woman has been ordered to spend three years on probation and repay all of the money she unlawfully received in Medicaid payments.

U.S. Attorney Josh J. Minkler announced Tuesday that 54-year-old Khadijah Shareef of Carmel was sentenced on federal charges of Medicaid fraud. A press release from his office says Shareef submitted enrollment applications to Indiana Medicaid for two businesses while barred from all federal health care programs.

An investigation revealed Shareef unlawfully received more than $720,000 after submitting Medicaid claims from 2008 through April 2012.

The Indianapolis Star (http://indy.st/1Ek3xxv ) reports Shareef was excluded from participation in all federal health care programs for at least seven years following a 2002 conviction of conspiracy to commit Medicare fraud. 

She never appealed her exclusion and never requested reinstatement.
