Car Services Reach Agreement with Indianapolis Airport

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – The Indianapolis International Airport has reached an agreement with two app-based car services regarding transportation during the NCAA Final Four.

The Indianapolis Star (http://indy.st/1DyTkhb ) reports Uber and Lyft will charge a $2.50 per pickup fee at the airport as thousands of travelers arrive for the men's basketball tournament this week.

But officials said no additional cabs will be allowed at the airport, causing many of the city's cab companies to say they feel like they're being shortchanged. Only 179 taxi drivers have permits from the city to make pickups at the airport.

Cabbies also will be required to charge a $50 flat rate rather than running their meters during the Final Four.

The base rate for an airport taxi trip usually is between $30 and $35.
