Camp Atterbury’s new commander installed


EDINBURGH, Ind. (AP):  In a change of command ceremony Friday, Col. Richard Shatto officially took over as the new commander of the military installation south of Indianapolis. He succeeded Col. Ivan Denton on Dec. 1.

Shatto is a career engineer officer who graduated from the U.S. Army Officer Candidate School in 1987. He’s a combat veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan who commanded the 113th Engineer Battalion based in Gary during a 2004-2005 deployment to Iraq. He most recently served as the chief of staff for the 38th Infantry Division in Kabul, Afghanistan.
