CALL TO ACTION ALERT:

Your help is urgently needed to expand free trade and access to foreign markets for U.S. and Indiana beef.

As you may know, Senate Finance Committee Chairman Orrin Hatch and Ranking Member Ron Wyden announced last week a bill that would extend Trade Promotion Authority to the White House. Companion legislation was introduced in the House Ways and Means Committee by Chairman Paul Ryan.

Now, the bill will come before the Senate Finance Committee for markup on Wednesday and in the House Ways and Means Committee for markup Thursday. We need your help.  Trade Promotion Authority is among the top priorities for the beef industry this year. TPA enables the White House, through the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, to craft and resolve new trade agreements in the quickest and most efficient manner possible, while still enabling input from Congress along the way.

The easiest path to passage for the TPA bill is one that does not involve amendments (known as a “clean bill” or a closed amendment process). Senator Dan Coats sits on the Senate Finance Committee and Congressman Todd Young sits on the House Ways and Means committee.

Both are strong supporters of TPA, so please call both Senator Dan Coats and Rep. Todd Young and thank them for their support of TPA and ask them to support a “clean” bill in committee.

Your voice is critical in this debate.

Call Senator Coats at (202) 224-5623

Call Rep. Young at (202) 225-5315
