WATERLOO, Ind. (WOWO): A portion of northbound I-69 was closed for over two hours due to a fire that destroyed a charter bus this morning.

The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department tells WOWO news the bus was northbound on I-69 at mile marker 333, one mile south of the Waterloo exit, when the driver noticed the engine starting to smoke. He pulled over at 7:16am and got all 30 passengers off the bus.

By the time police arrived five minutes later, the entire bus was engulfed in flames.

Nobody was hurt. I-69 had to be closed at that area to allow crews to extinguish the blaze, and the interstate was reopened at 9:32am.
