Brown Mackie College – Fort Wayne Is Hosting Public Open House On Saturday, September 22nd


(FORT WAYNE, IN – September 19, 2012)    To commemorate the Brown Mackie College system of school’s 120th anniversary of educating students; Brown Mackie College – Fort Wayne  (“Brown Mackie College”) will open its doors to the Fort Wayne and surrounding community to join the celebration on Saturday, September 22, 2012, from 10 am – 2 pm at the school on 3000 East Coliseum Blvd., Suite 100 in Fort Wayne.  All Brown Mackie College current and former faculty, staff, students and the community are invited to enjoy the school’s 120th anniversary party.

Prospective students attending the open house will have the opportunity to tour the school and meet with various faculty and staff to learn about admissions, financial aid (available to those who qualify), career service, and details about programs offered. Students will also learn more about Brown Mackie College’s partnership with Apple Inc. to introduce the iPad and eTextbooks to its students. The college is now converting to 100 percent electronic textbooks (eTextbooks), and the iPad is the vehicle for delivering that technology.

The Brown Mackie College system of schools is dedicated to providing educational programs that prepare students for entry-level positions in a competitive, rapidly changing workplace. Brown Mackie College offers bachelor’s degree, associate degree, certificate and diploma programs in health sciences, business, information technology, legal studies and design technologies. The Brown Mackie College schools established a unique “one course a month” scheduling format that allows students to focus on one subject for one month, then move on to the next. Courses are offered during days and evenings.

Brown Mackie College was founded and approved by the Board of Trustees of Kansas Wesleyan College in Salina, Kansas on July 30, 1892. In 1938, the College was incorporated as The Brown Mackie School of Business under the ownership of Mr. Perry E. Brown and Mr. A.B. Mackie, former instructors at Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina, Kansas. With improvements in curricula and higher degree-granting status, in 1975 The Brown Mackie School of Business became Brown Mackie College. In 2003, the College was acquired by Education Management Corporation.
