INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – Two U.S. representatives from Indiana have won prized seats on the U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee.
Republican Reps. Susan Brooks and Larry Bucshon (BOO'-shahn) announced their new assignments on the committee Thursday afternoon. The House panel oversees energy and environmental legislation, along with major business areas such as telecommunications.
Bucshon represents southwestern Indiana's coal-rich 8th District. Bucshon unsuccessfully pressed President Barack Obama to tour a coal mine with him when the president visited Princeton, Indiana, last month.
Brooks represents central Indiana's 5th District.
