FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Citing his record as a State Senator, Jim Banks (R-Columbia CIty) says he's committed to bring positive change to Washington.

Monday, Banks confirmed to WOWO News he was running for the U.S. House in Indiana's Third Congressional District.  The news comes less than 72 hours after current Congressman Marlin Stutzman announced he would run for U.S. Senate.

He says “Everything we've focused on doing at the State House, is exactly what we need to do in Washington and to replicate and champion.”

Banks will address supporters Tuesday afternoon at Allen County Republican Headquarters.

He has served in the Indiana State Senate since 2010 and spent the last eight months in Afghanistan with the U.S. Navy as part of a joint forces mission.
