FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Hundreds of men and a dozen aircraft from Fort Wayne's 122nd Fighter Wing are returning home today.
The airmen are returning from a six month deployment. They were supporting efforts by the U.S. Military's Central Command. That's an area that spans from the Middle East to Southeast Asia. Officials didn't disclose mission specifics, but told WOWO News it was part of Operation Inherent Resolve and Enduring Freedom – that included airstrikes against ISIS.
The so-called package, including pilots, mechanics and support staff. The A-10 aircraft are used extensively in support of ground troops and targeted ground air-attacks.
