Boy, 12, Dies After Getting Pulled from Indianapolis Pool

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – Authorities say a 12-year-old boy has died after being pulled from a pool at an Indianapolis apartment complex.

The Indianapolis Fire Department says two residents at the apartment complex spotted the boy in the pool Tuesday evening and called 911. The boy was pulled out of the water and responders performed CPR. He was later pronounced dead at a hospital.

According to the fire department, the pool opened over the Memorial Day weekend and is not manned by a lifeguard. The department says it's unclear how long the boy was in the water, which is about 6 feet deep.

A pool manager told officials that the boy was familiar with the pool, but didn't know how to swim.

The fire department says the boy lived at the apartment complex.
