Body Pulled From Maumee River Confirmed as Missing Kayaker

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The body pulled from the Maumee River in June has been identified as the missing kayaker searchers were looking for.

The Allen County Coroner's Office has ruled Sean Hiebel died of asphyxia due to drowning and ruled his death an accident.

The two other kayakers Heibel was with were pulled over the Hosey Dam at Anthony Boulevard on June 23rd. Hiebel was credited for saving the two other kayakers lives, but he never resurfaced from the water.

Hiebel's body was recovered near Kreager Park four days later.
