Bisard Trial Begins Second Week

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Week two of the David Bisard trial gets underway Monday with one nagging question:

Was he drunk or wasn't he?

Both defense and prosecution will make their case this week in the trial of the suspended Indianapolis officer facing nine criminal counts.

Last week in Allen Superior Court, much of the testimony showed an officer who executed his job well, and handled himself according to procedure when crashed his patrol car into a group of motorcyclists in 2010. That crash killed one person and seriously injured two others. This week, the discussion turns to the blood evidence that tested Bisard at 0.19, twice the legal limit.

Prosecution will try to remove any concerns that the blood was collected incorrectly and any mishandling of that evidence is insignificant.

The defense has maintained the blood test was administered by an unqualified tech and mishandled by police in the days after the crash.
