Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Indiana Receives Million Dollar Donation

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): This afternoon, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Indiana celebrated the grand opening of the new Big Brothers Big Sisters facility on West Rudisill Boulevard. However, it wasn't the only reason to celebrate as Katherine Moenter, Auer Foundation Grants Director, announced a $1 million donation from the Edward D. and Ione Auer Foundation.

Last year alone, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Indiana served nearly 2,000 kids and it is on pace to surpass that mark this year.

Josette Rider, the Executive Director and CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Indiana says she hopes the million dollar gift will help maintain the facility, “We’re doing a lot, but it’s just a hard middle market to grow this size, so we really need some sustainability.”

After the announcement tours were being conducted for those who wanted to see the new building and learn how it will help children reach their full potential.
