Ball State University Spokesperson says Student Made Up Stabbing Story

MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) – Ball State University says a student made up a story about being stabbed during a robbery attempt on campus.

University spokeswoman Joan Todd told The Star Press in an email Monday that campus police “have determined that the report of an assault and attempted robbery on campus is not true, and no other person was involved in the injury.  She says police consider the case closed.

The student had reported the attack occurred near Worthen Arena late on Oct. 26.

Delaware County Prosecutor Jeffrey Arnold says he hasn't reviewed the case yet but criminal charges are possible in the case.

Charges of false informing have been filed by prosecutors in similar cases.
