Baer Field Speedway Closes its Gates

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A longtime Fort Wayne staple has closed its gates. It was announced late Wednesday afternoon that Baer Field Speedway officials have chosen to cancel the remainder of the 2014 racing season.  Baer Field Speedway promoter, Jon Raney, made the decision to first cancel this weekend's activities at the track, and then chose to cancel the remainder of the season.  Raney blames poor attendance and on-going turmoil with the track's racers on social media as the culprit to the problems plaguing the track's 51st season. Stay tuned to WOWO as this story develops.
