Autopsy Reveals Cause of Death in Whitley County Inmate Death

WHITLEY COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO): An autopsy performed Wednesday, on the body of an inmate at the Whitley County Jail, revealed that 48-year-old Kevin Minnix died of asphyxiation.

Minnix was brought to the Whitley County Jail Tuesday afternoon and placed into a holding cell for drinking and driving. Officers then found him unconscious later that night with the string of his hooded sweatshirt fastened around his neck and tied to a door hinge.

Despite resuscitation efforts for nearly 40 minutes, Minnix was pronounced dead.
