Authorities Release Names in Fatal Wells County Crash

MARKLE, Ind. (WOWO): A Tuesday afternoon crash has killed two teens and injured two others in Northern Wells County

According to the Wells County Sheriff's Department 18-year-old Johnny Kidwell of Ossian and 17-year-old James McCune of Markle were killed in the crash.

According to police, around 5 p.m. Tuesday, 19-year-old Andrew Serafini of Ossian was traveling west on Wells County Road 900 North near Markle when the vehicle started to hydroplane from water in the road.

Serafini attempted to over-correct and crashed into a tree. Serafini is not among those who were killed.

19-year old Abigail Harris of Ossian, a passenger in the vehicle, was also injured. Police haven't released the extent of injuries to Harris and Serafini.

Northern Wells Schools Superintendent Scott Mills says clergy and grief counselors have been called in to support students and staff.

Alcohol may be a factor, according to police.
