Attorneys Want Transfer of Man Accused of Killing Officer

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ Attorneys for a man charged with the murder of an Indianapolis police officer during a shootout have requested his transfer to a state prison to isolate him from a minister.

WTHR-TV reports the court-appointed attorneys for Major Davis Jr. requested his transfer to the Indiana Department of Correction while he awaits trial because the minister has interrupted their visits with the defendant, compromising the confidentiality of those meetings.

Court documents also accused the unidentified minister of obstruction of justice. They say he claims to have information that can help Davis's case but refuses to give it to the defense team unless he is paid for it or hired as an investigator.

Davis could face the death penalty if convicted in the July 5 shooting of Officer Perry Renn.
