Attorney Ask judge to reverse life with no parole

PRINCETON, Ind. (AP): An attorney for a southwestern Indiana man found guilty of fatally shooting his ex-girlfriend's father is asking a judge to reverse the most serious conviction against him.

The Princeton Daily Clarion reports defense attorney Ivan Arnaez filed a motion Thursday asking Gibson Circuit Judge Jeffrey Meade to reverse a jury's recommendation of life in prison with no chance of parole for Austin Blaize of Francisco, 30 miles north of Evansville.

Blaize was found guilty last month of murder, felony murder, attempted murder and other lesser charges in the January shooting death of Terry Monier of Fort Branch. The jury recommended life without parole.

Arnaez contends prosecutors failed to prove Blaize intended to murder Monier.

Sentencing is scheduled for Thursday.
