NEW HAVEN, Ind. (WOWO): The New Haven man who police say tried to rob a Kroger earlier this week was caught.
20-year-old Joseph Michael was arrested on Thursday on an unrelated outstanding warrant, according to 21Alive. New Haven police are seeking a new warrant for attempted robbery and battery.
Michael allegedly entered the U-Scan self-checkout area of the store shortly before 1 a.m. Monday and asked an employee for change. He then shoved the employee to the floor and tried to grab the cash drawer.
He couldn’t get any cash and ran to an unknown vehicle parked in a nearby lot.

Wow, I didn’t think Kroger was interested in stopping theft at their stores. I’d witnessed someone shoplifted something and was walking out of the store. An employee was just passing by just after it happened. I reported it to them and pointed out the individual walking away and the employee did nothing. I reported it again to a cashier and still no response. Those “losses” are certainly added to the cost of goods there.
