Arrest Made In Fatal Milford Crash

MILFORD, Ind, (WOWO): An arrest has been made after a fatal weekend crash.

Kosciusko County Sheriff's Deputies have arrested a person who picked up a driver who fled a fatal Saturday morning crash near Milford. The accident happened on County Road 1350 North near County Road 300 West at 12:09 a.m. on December 27th. Police say when they arrived, a 2007 Nissan car was in flames and disintegrated in a field. They later found a charred body on inside the vehicle on the passenger side. The body was later identified as 27 year old Kami L. Ellis of Nappanee.

Police determined the driver fled the area with the help of a friend. At 5:48 a.m. that morning, Warsaw police located the driver involved in the crash and also the person who transported him from the crash site at a hotel. The driver, 36 year old Scott L. Wilkins of Milford is said to have pending charges. The person who picked Wilkins up was 61 year old Vicki Lynn Simmons. She was arrested with a preliminary charge of Felony Aiding/Causing/Inducing. Simmons’ was bond was set at $2,000.

Kosciusko County crash investigators determined that the fatality occurred when the vehicle swerved to miss a deer at a high rate of speed. The Nissan began to slide sideways, crossed the roadway and struck a tree and sign before travelling into the field and catching on fire.
