Arrest made in 1981 Cold Case

PAULDING, Ohio (WOWO): Just days before a decades-old murder case was set to appear on national television, authorities have made an arrest.

Friday officers from the Defiance Police Department and Paulding County Sheriff's Department arrested 58-year-old Steven Noffsinger. Noffsinger is charged with aggravated murder in the 1981 death of Alma Noffsinger.

More than 30 years later the case may be coming to close.

In a press release Paulding County Sheriff Jason Landers said, “Deputy Rob Garcia and Lt. Brion Hankenkratt have put a lot of man hours into this cold case over the past several months, along with cold case investigators that were brought into assist our office. I commend them for their dedication to see this through. I am pleased to know the healing process can start for Alma's family.”

In November 1981, 29-year old Alma Noffsinger, a mother of three, was found dead in an Oakwood, Ohio home. At the time, the coroner it was ruled a homicide from a multiple blows to the skull.

Friday, August 8, TNT Networks' show Cold Justice was scheduled feature the crime. No word if the network will adjust those plans.
