MARION, Ind. (WOWO): Officials in Marion are putting the final touches on a $45 million dollar multi-use development that includes a 4,500 seat arena.

Marion Mayor Wayne Seybold told WOWO News city council has approved the project.

“It's not just about the arena, there's also a medical center, a 124 senior apartments and also a tournament center.”

The arena will seat about 4,500 for hockey and expand to 6,000 for concerts. Seybold says work could begin yet this spring and take about 12 months to complete.

Developers are in discussions to bring a minor league team time to the facility. The entire project will cover more than 70 acres near State Road 18 and I-69.
