Area Teachers Among Finalists for Teacher of the Year

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WOWO): Two local teachers are in the running for a state award.

Gail Alexander of Heritage High School in the East Allen School system and Audrey Fetters of Flint Springs Elementary with the Huntington County Community School Corporation are among ten finalists for Indiana Teacher of the Year.

Alexander is an English teacher and has been with the school for 23 years. She advanced to the final round after being named East Allen County Schools teacher of the year. Audrey Fetters is a kindergarten teacher. She has taught in Huntington since 2002. 


“As a life-long educator, I have always been impressed by the work the teachers do throughout Indiana day after day,” said Superintendent Ritz.  “These teachers have demonstrated their dedication to their craft and their students and I am honored to name them as finalists for Indiana Teacher of the Year.”

An announcement is expected in October.
