Area man arrested for injuring a child

ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO): The Allen County Sheriff’s Department arrested Andrew M. Watson, aka Andrew Owsley, 27, on the 2000 block of West Cedar Canyons Road. The babysitter of a boy sent pictures to the boy’s Grandfather showing bruising on the boy’s lower left cheek and jaw according to the Journal Gazette. The grandfather then called the Allen County Sheriff’s Department.

As the sheriff’s officer approached the home, he noticed a man look out the front window then walk away. The officer then knocked on the door and it was answered by a boy and his sister. It was evident that the boy had bruising on his face. According to court records, the children indicated that their mother wasn’t home. The officer then asked the boy how he got the bruising and he indicated that Watson hit him. Court records state that Watson was led out of the home and handcuffed and stated that it was an accident.

The mother later gave the officer permission to speak to her son. The boy stated that Watson gave him the bruises because he didn’t hear Watson when he spoke to him. The officer then asked “Did he mean to hit you?” and the boy replied yes.

After a closer look at the bruising, the officer could three finger shaped bruises. The mother indicated that she wasn’t home when he was hit, but was told about it by Watson on the phone. Watson was booked on June 6 at the Allen County Jail and charged Tuesday, June 12 with battery resulting in bodily injury to a person under 14.  He has been released on a $10,000 bond. His hearing is set on June 28. The age of the child was not indicated in the affidavit.
