Area governments to receive federal transportation grants

INDIANAPOLIS (WOWO): Some area counties will be getting a piece of $161-million in federal transportation grants.

A total of 66 cities, towns and counties in Indiana will be splitting the money for local road and bridge improvements, as well as sidewalk and trail projects. Once combined with local funds, the total amount of cash being invested in infrastructure is about $212-million.

Projects getting funds include 27 bridge rehabilitation or replacement projects, 6 traffic safety projects, and a number of sidewalk and trail projects.

Allen County – Bridge #271: South County Line Road over St Marys River – $1,091,200.00

Dekalb County – County Road 56 between County Road 17 and State Road 327 – $2,079,979.20

Elkhart County – CR 40 from SR 19 to CR 7 – $1,201,445.00

Huntington – Frontage Road Area Sidewalk and Trail in the City of Huntington – $647,200.00

Huntington County – Bridge #23: CR900S over Salamonie River – $1,668,484.00

Kosciusko County – Bridge #227: South Hand Street over Walnut Creek – $637,100.47

LaGrange – Hawpatch Street between South Townline Road and West Central Avenue – $3,044,000.00

Noble County – County Road 400 North – $2,248,000.00

Warsaw – Anchorage Road / CR 200 N – $2,683,763.00

Warsaw – Sheridan St, E Clark, & E Ft Wayne St, Between Colfax St and Cook St – $1,123,407.60

Wells County – Wells County Bridge 106 – $1,252,800.00
