Apple to fight judge order to help FBI

WASHINGTON (AP): Should Apple help the government hack into an encrypted iPhone?

The phone belonged to one of the San Bernardino, California shooters. And the FBI thinks it could help establish where they went, and who they contacted.

But Apple CEO Tim Cook says an order from a federal magistrate, telling the company to help hack into the phone, is an example of government overreach. He says if Apple is forced to develop that software, it could put everyone’s iPhone at risk.

The phone was issued by Syed Farook’s employer, San Bernardino County, and it’s configured to erase data after 10 consecutive unsuccessful attempts to unlock it.
