STEUBEN COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO): An Angola man is hospitalized after a possible drunk-driving crash that happened in Steuben County last night.

According to the Steuben County Sheriff’s Department, officers were called to County Road 300 West, south of SR 120, at about 11:30pm Friday. They found a cargo van smashed against a tree, and the driver, 35-year-old Jason Loy, trapped inside.

The Fremont Fire Department was called in and their “Jaws of Life” were used to extract Loy from the van. He was taken to a Fort Wayne hospital in serious but stable condition.

Police say Loy was southbound on 300 W when his vehicle veered off the road, first hitting a mailbox, then the tree. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.
