Allen County Voter Registration Office reminds residents to register

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Hoosiers only have about a week to register to vote.

The Allen County Voter Registration office is reminding Allen County residents hoping to vote in the General Election on Tuesday, Nov. 8, they must register by Tuesday, Oct. 11.

The registration office is open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday in Suite 176 in The Rousseau Centre at One East Main Street in downtown Fort Wayne.

Residents wanting to register must:

  • Be a U.S. citizen
  • Have an Indiana address by Oct. 9 to register in Indiana
  • Be 18 by Election Day
  • Not be in jail after being convicted of a crime

Below are directions on how to register to vote.
Online

To register online, go to Indiana Voter’s website. There you can follow simple step-by-step instructions.

If you register online, you’ll need an Indiana driver’s license or state ID card number.

By mail
To register by mail, download the Indiana voter registration sheet, which is located at Indiana Voter’s website. Residents can also call 1-800-622-4941 to have one mailed to them.

Residents should send the completed form to:

Indiana Election Division

Indianapolis, IN 46204

The form must be postmarked Oct. 11. Hoosier voters can also mail the form to the county voter registration office.

In Person
Get the Indiana voter registration form at the Indiana Election Division, your county voter registration officer, Bureau of Motor Vehicle license branch, public assistance office or a local public library.

Then fill out the form and return it to your county voter registration office.
