Allen County Sex Offenders to Begin Paying Fees

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) _ Sex offenders in Allen County will be required to pay a fee to register and change their addresses under a plan approved by county commissioners.

WANE reports the requirement will take effect April 1. Sex offenders will be required to pay $50 to register and $5 every time they change addresses.

The fees are allowed under a new state law that authorizes all 92 Indiana counties to impose such fees for sex offenders.

Allen County commissioners approved the measure Friday.

Offenders who fail to pay the fees could be taken to small claims court.
