Allen County man sentenced for stalking ex

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A Huntertown man has been sentenced to 1 1/2 years in prison in what a judge called the “worst” stalking case he’s ever seen.

The News-Sentinel reports that 31-year-old Casey Gardiner has been sentenced for violating a no-contact order and stalking an ex-girlfriend for a little more than 30 days between last November and December.

He allegedly did everything from posting a nude photo of the woman using a fake Facebook account, to calling her a staggering 3,000 times, leaving vulgar messages on her phone and even including her 5-year-old son in the abuse and harassment. It apparently got so bad that the victim said she had to have chaperones with her while she was at work.

In addition to the prison term, Gardiner will serve three years probation, including one year of electronic monitoring.

Gardiner cried during sentencing, saying he was the sole provider for his daughters and that one of them needed special medical attention. The News-Sentinel reports the judge accused him of trying to hide behind his daughters while ignoring the feeling of his victim’s son.
