FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): New Allen County Health Commissioner Dr. Matthew Sutter says hospitalizations and deaths from COVID-19 are expected to rise in the near future.

According to the Journal Gazette, Sutter told the Health Department board Monday that both hospitalizations and deaths from the novel coronavirus are likely to go up in the coming weeks due to a recent uptick in local cases.

Allen County reported 33 new positive cases yesterday, pushing the total number of positive cases to 3,171, with about 8% of tests coming back positive. The death toll was unchanged at 139.

The Health Department has so far experienced $111,000 in expenses not budgeted for due to a demand for equipment and related medical supplies.

In total, positive cases in Indiana are at 57,206 as of Monday. Overall, 635,660 Hoosiers have been tested for the virus. 2,632 have died, while 41,322 have recovered, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.

I like how this story just threw in a random note about the Health department’s budget. So what, do they want more funding now because deaths are “expected to go up” and they spent money not in their budget. Now they need more as if the HD has the ability to stop (or even effect) the rate of spread.

The sad thing is they are trying to equate the number of cases to the number of deaths which is just NOT A FACT!!! So quit trying to push Fear.

What is the group of people expected to get the CV; healthy 20 to 30 year olds? Take a guess as to how many are likely to die…None

I must take something back from my previous comment: The Health Department does have the ability to effect the rate of spread by reporting an increased (whether it is spreading or not), just like in Florida where 300 facilities were reporting 100% positive tests (not possible) to artificially report the State increase.

Don’t think that those kind of shenanigans don’t happen in Indiana, especially in an election year. Many Democrats in this State.

I agree that we should not be spreading fear and that we can be skeptical of the numbers and the established leaders. But we need to look at the cv for what it is and do the math through the science of this contagion. 1 person young or old symptoms or no symptoms “will” spread it to many others with or without knowledge. This is why we the American people need to protect ourselves and each other. Simple steps wear a mask, social distance, do not gather in crowds without these measures in place, do not touch your face and wash your hands and surfaces regularly.
And leave the politics out of the reality of the cv that most are trying not to see. I am speaking as a fellow American to another. And no I am not a democrat! There are definite politics involved and who and how this virus was allowed to come to America and the whole world is collateral damage that’s the politics in this pandemic in my opinion.
