FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A Fort Wayne County Commissioner is looking for a way to cut down the time it takes to send out emergency alerts.

Nelson Peters tells 21 Alive it took too long to send out an Amber Alert for Rene Pasztor and Liliana Hernandez, the two children abducted by their mother last week. In that instance, six hours passed before an Amber Alert was sent state wide.

He proposes a plan to fund computer software that will cut back on the time and give emergency crews more authority.  The program allows for faster alerts to radio, TV and cell phones.

The proposal will be put in front of the Consolidated Communications Partnership later this month and is estimated to cost around $40,000.
