Adams County Embraces Unmanned Aircraft

DECATUR, Ind. (WOWO): There's an eye in the sky in Adams County – an unmanned aircraft


But county officials say its not to spy on you. The unmanned aeriel vehicle actually is actually saving taxpayers money and make surveying more efficient. 


A few years ago the state of Indiana began charging countiess for aerial surveys.


Since December, Landon Patterson and the Adams County IT department have been putting it to use

Officials in the assessors office say they are already seeing the benefit. A assessment of the town of Berne would normally take about 2 weeks to complete. Recently they finished it in two hours.
He says one state flight is $60,000, their aircraft which cost $32,000, will fly for years and pay for its self quickly.
