Active death investigation in Paulding, Ohio, suspects at large

PAULDING, Ohio (WOWO) – An active death investigation is taking place in Paulding, Ohio.

Police were dispatched to a home in the 11000 block of Road 230 in Cecil, Ohio at 12:28 p.m. Thursday for a reported home invasion. They found a man dead inside the home.

Sheriff Jason Landers reports the investigation is active and police have a perimeter in place, with aviation patrol canvasing the woods surrounding the home.

Police report two people fled the home in a black four-door Hyundai, and believe more suspects may have fled into the wooded area.

“We are using the daylight we have and resources available to make sure no one is out there,” said Landers in a press release.

Witnesses describe one of the suspects as a white man, 5’6″ – 5’9″ tall, wearing tan shorts, a knit hat and aviator-style sunglasses.

Police believe this is an isolated incident and not a random home invasion. More information will be provided as it becomes available.

If anyone has any information related to the event, you are urged to contact the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office at (419) 399-3791.
