ACD Museum celebrates 40th year

AUBURN, Ind. (AP): The Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum will turn 40 on Sunday.

The museum opened on July 6, 1974, and has had more than 2 million visitors since.

Museum officials say it's the only car museum in the world that's in the original international headquarters building of the cars on display. The museum is located in the Art Deco building in Auburn where the Auburn Automobile Company was based.

Duesenberg was the maker of one of America's first luxury cars and popularized the slang phrase, “It's a doozy.”<br />
Auburn is about 20 miles northeast of Fort Wayne.

The museum displays 120 classic, antique, vintage and special interest cars and other automotive related exhibits on three floors.
