About a Dozen Flights Cancelled at Indy Airport

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ A spokesman for Indianapolis International Airport says about a dozen flights have been cancelled due to powerful storms sprawling across the northern half of Indiana.

Carlo Bertolini said only about six arrivals and six departures had been called off by 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Most of those flights were in and out of Chicago, where airlines canceled more than 120 flights at O’Hare International Airport.

Bertolini says the cancellations in Indianapolis were more due to weather in Chicago than to weather in Indiana.

He says when a big storm hits a hub, the effects can ripple throughout the entire system.

The National Weather Service says the strongest wind reported in northern Indiana was a 60 mph wind near LaPorte.
