9 companies plan to add 2,550 new jobs in Indiana…

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ Nine companies are promising to bring more than 2,500 new jobs to Indiana within the next six years by locating or expanding operations in the state.

Gov. Mitch Daniels joined executives from the companies for Tuesday’s announcement at his Statehouse office. He says the companies ranging from Indianapolis-based Angie’s List to an Arizona-based food maker expect to hire 2,550 new workers by the end of 2018.

The companies’ plans vary widely from Angie’s List’s plans for 850 new jobs to Mitsubishi’s plans for 73 new jobs.

Daniels says it would be hard to pin the planned new jobs on Indiana’s right-to-work law he signed earlier this year. But he said it did not hurt the state’s competitiveness.

Daniels says more jobs announcements are likely before he leaves office next month.
