FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Police have charged 7 people who were allegedly involved in creating and cashing counterfeit paychecks. Those checks appeared to have been from Fort Wayne-based Eagle Contracting and totaled more than $46,000. The checks were allegedly cashed at local banks back in May of last year. Our news partners at 21 Alive tell us that the scam involved 16 or more checks. In one case, officers were sent to a Grabill Bank branch on a report of a man trying to cash a check for more than $7,000. Police caught up with that suspect and use fingerprint identification to catch up with the other six.
