Longtime ice cream owner Norman Atz passes

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The owner of a long time ice cream favorite in Fort Wayne has passed away.

Norman R. Atz, 90, died on Sunday, February 28, in Fort Wayne. Service are scheduled for Friday, March 4th at 10:30 am at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 3425 Crescent Ave. Calling at D. O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Rd will be on Thursday, March 3rd, from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm.

Memorials may be made to the Holy Cross Lutheran School or St. John Lutheran School of Kendallville.

Norman was the owner and operator of Puritan Ice Cream and Atz’s Ice Cream Shoppes for 70 years. In his obituary from D.O. Mccomb and Sons, he served his country as a member of the U.S. Army during WWII. Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Rose Marie Atz of Fort Wayne.
