Woman in roll over accident dies days after crash

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): New information from the Allen County Coroner’s Office confirms a victim of a roll over crash has died.

On Thursday, February 4th, two people suffered major injuries after leading Fort Wayne police on a high speed chase and eventually crashing. The driver of the car has not been identified, but the passenger, Kierra Jaleigh Kitts, 20, of Fort Wayne, has died from the injuries.

Police reports say that Kierra was ejected from the vehicle and was not wearing a safety belt.

The crash happened after police tried to pull over a silver Chevy Malibu that was swerving into oncoming traffic. Instead of stopping, the car sped off, leading police on a chase that reached over 80 mph.

The chase ended when the car lost control on railroad tracks on Nuttman Avenue, crashing off the roadway and ejecting the two people inside.

Police have not released the name of the male driver, but they were last listed in serious condition. Kierra is the 5th traffic fatality for Fort Wayne and Allen County in 2016. The incident remains under investigation.
