FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A 4-year-old child was hospitalized with possible internal injuries Monday evening after the child was ran over by a truck.

It’s not clear how seriously the child was injured.

An Indiana man was driving through Shamrock Mobile Home Park in Warsaw at about 5:07 p.m. Monday when he saw a small child on a scooter in the middle of the road, according to the Warsaw Police Department.

Police say the driver drove left to avoid the child. A passenger in the vehicle said the child then trailed the truck and tried to grab the bumper of the truck.

When the driver arrived as his destination he tried to parallel park the truck. When the truck was in reverse, the driver felt the truck roll over something.

After he realized he back over the child, he called 911.
