4 people safe after Fort Wayne house fire

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): It took the Fort Wayne Fire Department about 43 minutes to bring a fire under control on Sunday morning.

Around 2:50 a.m., crews were called to a home in the 5000 block of Woodford Drive on reports of a fire. Firefighters found heavy smoke and fire coming from the attic of the home when they arrived, according to the Fort Wayne Fire Department.

Two adults, two children and pets were able to evacuate the house safely. It took the department 43 minutes to get the fire under control.

The house sustained heavy fire, water and smoke damage. The fire is under investigation and the Red Cross is assisting the family.
