2nd Murder Trial Date Set for Southern Indiana Man

NEW ALBANY, Ind. (AP) _ A southern Indiana man already condemned to death for killing a family friend faces a second murder trial June 2.

Floyd Superior Court Judge Susan Orth set the trial date Wednesday for William Clyde Gibson III in connection with the slaying of 35-year-old Stephanie Kirk of Charlestown.

Kirk's body was discovered buried in Gibson's backyard days after the remains of 75-year-old Christine Whitis at his New Albany home in April 2012. A jury in October recommended the 56-year-old Gibson be put to death for Whitis' slaying.

The News and Tribune reports Floyd County Prosecutor Keith Henderson has said he also will seek the death penalty in the new trial.

Gibson also is charged with murder in the slaying of 45-year-old Karen Hodella of Port Orange, Fla.
