25 Acres Added to Allen County Protected Wetlands

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): 25 acres of marshes in southwest Allen County has been named part of the Little River Wetland Project.

The newly protected land along Amber Road, between Eagle and Arrowhead has been named Buttonbush Bottoms after a native wetland shrub found at the site.

The Journal Gazette reports the new land brings the total protected land to just under 1,200 acres.

The land had been for sale, but the owners decided to donate the preserve. A loop trail will be constructed this year for the public.
